Society tells us that financial planning is hard work if you're doing it yourself and if you're seeking a professional it's expensive. Not to mention the line that advisers are untrustworthy and are simply going to sell you something.
SO, is there a balance we can strike between having clarity over our finances by planning, and over-planning then scaring ourselves out of ever looking at a spreadsheet again?
